Vessel – Elevator (New York)

Popularly known as New York's Eiffel Tower, the Vessel is a unique feat of engineering, a sensational masterpiece of the Hudson Yards. Bringing to life such an iconic landmark comprising of 154 interconnecting stairways, 80 landings and over 2000 stairs, required extraordinary attention to detail. Naturally, Cimolai Technology reached out to AJ Tech Design for the design of the elevator.
CHALLENGE
Right from the onset, it was clear that designing the Vessel's elevator would be a mammoth task. In fact, the Vessel is 15 m wide at its base, rising to 46 m at its apex. AJ Tech Design was tasked with providing a futuristic design for the elevator including shop drawings, assembly sketches and as-built designs.
SOLUTION
Using industry-leading software, AJ Tech Design generated a truly innovative design concept of the Vessel elevator. Today, thousands of New Yorkers and tourists from all over the world daily enjoy amazing views of New York city and the Hudson River from the Vessel ¾ a testimony of how great engineering design can make the world a better place.
